The Christmas markets in Budapest opened on 18-11-2022.

Budapest’s Christmas markets are considered one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe. They attract thousands of visitors every year.

Christmas is a real tradition in Budapest and every year the Christmas markets become more popular.

Below you will find where that the Christmas markets are in Budapest, what kind of food and drinks you can find and how to get there.

Christmas market in front of St. Stephen Basilica.

St. Stephen Basilica is opened from Nov. 18 untill Jan. 1, 2023. You should definitely visit this Christmas market when you are in Budapest.

There is a small ice skating rink in the middle of the market.

It has an amazing vibe, beautiful lights and delicious food.

You can take metro M2 and you should get off at the Deák Ferenc tér stop.

Christmas market at Vörösmarty square

In addition to the Christmas market in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica, you also have the Christmas market at Vörösmarty square.

The Vörösmarty square market is open from November 18th until December 31st.

This one is 9 min away from St. Stephen’s Basilica.

  • Friday – Saturday: 11.00 – 22.00
  • Sunday: 11.00 – 21.00

Christmas market tour with Mulled Wine

During this 2,5 hours tour you will visit 2 of Budapest’s Christmas markets. You will learn about the Hungarian Christmas culture.

You will also get the chance to enter the St. Stephen’s Basilica.

At the end of the tour you will try a hot mulled wine. Your tour guide will leave you at the Vorosmarty Square, the site of the city’s biggest Christmas market.
